Fukuoka Airport held the "Fukuoka Airport Senryu Contest 2020: Get in the Travel Mood with Senryu" in the hopes of getting more people interested in airports, aviation, and travel, and also to inspire them to want to travel and get on a plane, even if just a little, at a time when travel is difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many people submitted works on the themes of "travel," "Fukuoka Airport," and "airplanes," with a total of 1,297 haiku submitted (1,128 in the general category and 169 in the junior category).

We will now announce the 20 winning works selected by the judging panel.

Additionally, we would like to introduce the overall comments on the contest, as well as the selections for each category, the Grand Prize, the Fukuoka Airport Director's Award, and the Fukuoka International Airport Award, from Mr. Ryusei Umezaki, permanent director of the All Japan Senryu Association and one of the judges for this contest.
