For those traveling to South Korea (Announcement from the Animal Quarantine Service)
An outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, a virulent infectious disease affecting livestock such as cows and pigs, has been confirmed in South Korea for the first time in four years.
If you are traveling to South Korea, please note that bringing raw meat or foods containing meat products such as ham or sausage (such as kimbap or sandwiches with ham, or rice balls with bulgogi) into Japan is prohibited, even if it is for souvenirs or personal consumption.
Additionally, during your trip, we ask for your cooperation in avoiding entering livestock-related facilities such as tourist ranches and coming into contact with livestock.
